Centering Ritual - Week 2, Day 3 - Sitting

Updated: Aug 29, 2020

Opening thought: How to be in stillness when there are so many uncertainties to nagivate. How do we kindle a sense of stillness when those whose company helps us be at easy depends on our willingness to think new thoughts, to practice new ways of being with and for each other bridging the space in between us.

Centering Meditation – Thich Nhat Hanh, There's Only Sitting Closing : It will close the distance. I will sit on Thursdays at 7:00 pm and think of you.

Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh guides you through this short (20 minutes) sitting meditation. For those of you who may not want to do a Zen meditation, I have added a short sitting Breath Meditation by Jon-Kabat Zinn. As you know, I am a Zen practitioner, and I am mindfulness meditation teacher with a mindfulness meditation instruction practice.

Jon-Kabat Zinn is creator of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, I took this training at Omega Institute with him and Mr. Santorelli.

Closing: Download the mindfulness bell and set it up from time to time to remember to take a moment to sit. You are invited to share any of your thoughts.

Thank you Dr. Ortega for allowing your centering ritual first published in Open Plaza to be the inspiration for grounding, centering and creative self expression. Modifications here involved additional meditation by Jon Kabbat Zinn
