Sitting Still
Light colored puffy roses, purple tulips, white double daffodils, blue grape Hyacinths, babies breathe in a blue vase, and more lush greenery decorated the Zendo today.
The scent of spring sweet and comforting, like coming home.
Sitting still, we sat, chanting we chanted, and then stillness as we heard a story.
The Birth of the Buddha.
A gentle bath as we cleansed ourselves.
The beginning. A rebirth.
Here now, she said.
Present.
Awakened.
Upstairs in the small apartment we sat in a warm spring day.
It is the beginning of Jukai class.
A commitment to a path, embracing the precepts.
The Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha.
Taking refuge.
The beginning of a way of life that has been part of my life for some time now.
Soon.
I will sew and in sewing,
I will come to see.
